Flying High

A couple days ago, I took a teeny tiny hopper plane from Oahu to Maui. The plane was small enough to hide behind a van, and held only ten people. They even strategically place you in a seat according to your weight–yes, you have to jump on a scale in public, but on the bright side, they make you hold on to your bags, so you can blame that extra five pounds on that heavy book you’re planning to finish this summer (even if it’s actually just September’s Glamour). I’ve been flying for as long as I can remember, so I was much more excited about the beautiful views than I was anxious about the bumpy ride/the sixteen year old pilots. In fact, I probably wouldn’t have minded a water landing (I was pretty sweaty by this point in our journey, and I mean who doesn’t love a little adrenaline rush?).

Leaving Oahu! From up in the sky, Waikiki could almost be mistaken for a mini tropical New York. It always amazes me how such a small place can be so heavily populated yet still maintain a pretty low key vibe.

A fuller view of Oahu! I feel like this picture could definitely be on a postcard somewhere.

This is a photo of sand/rock through water. I found the color and texture of this shot to be simply lovely.

If ya’ll know of some good surf spots on Maui (we are staying in Ka’anapali), comment below!

P.S. I’m signing off as Alika for the next couple weeks because why be plain ol’ Alyssa?!
